Work in Progress

You oughta hear the mirror in my house You oughta fear her pretty, pretty mouth Says I’m imperfect in every way: “Miss Almost, Miss Maybe, Miss Halfway”/...But I’m gonna burn, I’m gonna shine and multiply I’m gonna fill up the great divide You’ll never break me with all the things you say “Miss Almost, Miss Maybe, Miss Halfway”

Thoroughly Exultant.

=]
Happiness.
So.
I get to learn how to play the piano as my minor instrument. As of right now, I know nothing about it. You press a key and it makes noise. That's pretty much it. We've never had a piano and my first brush with music was band in the fifth grade. So I've never learned.
I get some lessons at the end of the summer so I'm not ENTIRELY clueless when I start at school.
And.
Because we don't have a piano in this household, and I've nothing to practice on when I start lessons/every summer from here on out, I officially have a 61 key keyboard! =]=]=]
It's VERY exciting in my world.
I've been playing with it ALL DAY. Every time I walk in my room I'm compelled to flip it on and hit a few keys. And I do. I've figured out where all the major scales are and I can kind of plunk through them, but I don't know if I'm doing anything right or not so I'm trying to not get set in a particular way of playing things in case I'm wrong. Habits are hard to break.
And senior year, a fellow flute friend had the piano part for the Sorceror's Stone soundtrack and randomly copied me the first page of a handful of songs to play with on flute. So I found them.
I kind do a really really slow Hedwig's Theme and that's about it...I suck at reading bass clef (That-that's the G line, but it's base, so...it's...a B? I think so. Oh wrong octave. THERE! what's the next one....) and cords (D-G-D...ok...*meticulously positions small hand to cover an octave's worth of keys* Other hand...B flat-G-D...*more positioning* ok...*SOUND*! NOW the next one...). But it's awesome! So it's been stuck in my head ALL day. But I like it there.
So for the glorious release of Deathly Hallows, Sandy and Rachel T and I were going to make full Gryffindor uniforms. But it's expensive. REALLY REALLY REALLY expensive on my budget (then again, EVERYTHING kind of is...). $55 for a tie and sweater, not counting the $11 for a skirt, finding knee highs, a white button down blouse, $4-5 per yard for fabric, thread, a clasp of some kind and a Gryffindor patch. So...yeah we're not doing THAT any longer. Darn money. Instead, we're making shirts! Yay! =] Across the front in some really cool looking handwriting we're gonna figure out they're going to say Dumbledore's Army with a Dark Mark xd out in red. Our names will be on the back with a Dumbledore quote of some kind. My hair will still be red, and we're making new wands. And it's gonna be amazing. =]=]=]=]=] Oh I can't wait...not at all...I'm going to go insane.
Yesterday was pretty much amazing. Kristina left for Cali for six weeks this morning, so yesterday afternoon Sandy, Megan Kristina and I met at Starbuck's to chill for a while-it ended up being over three hours =] It was hysterical. Mostly because I had a raspberry mocha iced latte (which was amazing) and...me on espresso...oh goodness. I'm bad enough on *coffee.* There's a reason why I NEVER have it unless I'm going to die from exhaustion and can't get some sleep...I'm frightening. I scare myself. Espresso is slightly worse. Well, a lot worse. I spent half the time laughing at nothing, bouncing up and down on my seat, and talking really really fast with many large hand gestures in quick succession and making many faces. My eyes were wide open and I could hardly even blink. The room was gloriously bright. It was hilarious. Oh caffiene...
Then we went back to Kristina's later to keep her company while packing and we put on some old Olsen twin movies (Billboard Dad and Passport to Paris) and that was loads of fun. Then I came home, plunked around on my keyboard and crashed until noon.
*happy, content sigh*
I want the OOTP soundtrack. Right. Now.
What else...
Nothing, really. That is my life right now. Exciting, no? =]

June is ending and the cicadas are silent right on schedule. No more old people, *siiiiiiiiiiiigh* (note I extended the vowel not the consonant...old habits die hard). I like this costume project you have going. Good luck!
